Eighteen authors are puzzling over the meaning of a symbol. In WHAT, they share in short pieces what is floating through their minds, what remains caught in the folds of thought, and what finds its way onto the page through writing.

They offer no answers. Yet perhaps, after reading the texts, we may nevertheless understand something: about looking at images, filling in outlines, and giving form to things in words. This Saturday afternoon, two of the authors will read excerpts from the compendium of thoughts WHAT.
