Utopia of Sound explores the growing significance of sound as a distinct aesthetic and cultural phenomenon in contemporary art, film, and visual culture.

For the project documented in this volume, Brandon LaBelle invited people from around the world to send in radio memories--of songs overheard at special moments in their lives. Radio Memory contains contributions by Bastien Gallet, Carmen Cebreros Urzaiz and others, as well as a CD of audio works by LaBelle.

The publication is developed as a reflection on books as archives of touch. Visiting our local public library, the Philipp Schaeffer Bibliothek in Berlin, we checked out a selection of books that caught our attention. Bringing them home, we took photographs of handling and reading the books, which we then printed out and inserted back into the books. Following this, we returned books to the library with these hidden pages added.
