1987 als lockeres Bündnis von vier Künstlerinnen-Persönlichkeiten (Ona B., Evelyn Egerer, Birgit Jürgenssen, Ingeborg Strobl) gegründet, verwöhnten DIE DAMEN fortan das Publikum mit ihren gewitzten Aktionen. Mit Ironie und Provokation irritierten sie unter der Devise »Zur rechten Zeit am rechten Ort« den Kunstbetrieb.

The starting point here is the relation between writing and time, object and text, hence the title “Schreibtischuhr” (writing desk clock).

Weiner's later work expanded into wall installations, video, film, books, sound art, sculpture, performance art, installation art, and graphic art, maintaining his focus on language as a sculptural element.

The book is a wordless visual document, featuring full-bleed color images that capture the exhibition and each artist's contribution.

Lawrence Weiner (New York, the United States, 1942) is one of the representatives of Conceptual and post-Minimalism art whose work can be placed next to American artists from the same generation such as Joseph Kosuth and Robert Barry.
