The book offers a thorough retrospective view of Anja Franke's work during the last 15 years. Mikkel Bogh, director of the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, contributes with an essay on the experience of mental and physical spaces in Franke's installations and her concern with borders, limitations, divisions and relations. Sanne Kofod Olsen, curator, writer and director of the Funen Academy of Fine Arts in Odense, looks into recurrent aspects or principles in Franke's practice such as man, woman, apple, house and Franke's play with gender roles. The artist introduces each work with a description and personal comments.

The seven photographs in the book are accompanied by a selection of articles, documents and legends from the 16-20th century Estonia and Livonia – material which the artist drew her inspiration from for this series.

The result of a long term investigation, this voluminous encyclopaedia contains solely images collected from other books, and reads as an exhilarating and extremely rich filmic sequence. Suter's interest lies not only in the iconographic value of images and the way that the human brain processes visual information, but also the causes by which images become charged with associative values.

Models oscillate between that protective area in which they are still an idea, and the potency with which they already play a role in the world.

The magazin features a selection of the most iconic covers, illustrations and caricatures from the legendary Azeri satirical periodical of the early 20th century, "Molla Nasreddin."

For artists of previous epochs, it was much easier to fall back on the canon of stories of divine intervention and mercy that provide suitable comment upon almost any turmoil or torment. The artist of the present moment has no such repository of sure images to which he can turn, no breviary in which he will find all the answers, no emblem book to provide him with a potent iconography. It must all be created anew.

Physics and painting appear to have nothing in common with each other. Yet artist Dirk Vander Eecken and scientist Stef Van Tendeloo have effortlessly bridged the gap between the two. Dirk Vander Eecken’s doctorate is inspired by a series of black and white images given to him by Stef Van Tendeloo. Nano-science and painting: an intriguing but not a very obvious combination.
