  • Moscow Symposium
    Conceptualism Revisited
    Boris Gross
Could it be that the Moscow Conceptualists were so elusive or saturated with the particularities of life in a specific economic and intellectual culture that they precluded integration into a broader art historical narrative?
  • THE DEPOSITION OF RICHARD PRINCE In the case of Cariou v. Prince et al
    Richard Prince
French photographer Patrick Cariou accused Richard Prince of copying 41 images of rastafarians and landscapes from his book Yes Rasta, which Richard Prince was using for a series of paintings and collages called the Canal Zone. A deposition is the out-of-court oral testimony of a witness that is reduced to writing for later use in court. In such a scenario Richard Prince had to explain and defend his art, his career, and his decades-long practice of appropriating images made by others.
  • Communiqué 04
    Alun Rowlands

    the angry.

  • Around the World in Eighty Days
Hg. Claire Fitzsimmons, Kit Hammonds, Margot Heller, …
"Around the World in Eighty Days" is a unique exhibition that takes Jules Verne’s popular novel "Around the World in Eighty Days" as a starting point to investigate the increasing internationalism of the London art world. "Around the World in Eighty Days" marks the first in a new series of exhibitions developed by the ICA that takes a novel, a short story or other written narrative as a point of departure.
  • We would come to doubt everything. And almost everyone would come to doubt
    Wyrtske van Keulen
‘The documentary photo project ‘We would come to doubt everything…’ deals with Juan (Jan), a Brabant dentist who thirty years ago left everything behind to start a new life in the remote mountain village of San Sebastian de Garabandal in Spain. Juan de la Torre leads the life of a hermit and has devoted himself to the ‘study of life’, immersing himself in books on religion, alternative philosophies, the falsification of history and conspiracy theories.

Did He Commit Bankruptcy Offences?) describes his experience of Färber’s courses at film school – a method of scrupulous, close analysis at the editing table that also played a crucial role in Harun Farocki’s teaching.

  • Sharks, Death, Surfers
    An Illustrated Companion
    Melissa McCarthy
We encounter the world through surfaces: the screen, the page, our skin, the ocean’s swell. Here on the sea is the surfer, positioned at the edge of the collapsing wave. And lurking underneath in a monstrous mirroring is the shark. When the two meet, carving along the surface, breaking through the boundary, is when death appears.
  • The Moiré Effect
    Lytle Shaw
Ernst Moiré was a mysterious Swiss photographer whose career has been obscured by silence, documentary voids, and misinformation. So much of his life is shrouded in speculation and half-truths that he sometimes seems more like a phantasm than the flesh-and-blood figure who will forever be remembered as the inadvertent inventor of the blur that bears his name.
