This is due to its two complimentary elements: on one hand, 180 long, tense chords distributed throughout three harps, and on the other, a unique large cast cylinder made of pure quartz. The Austrian artist group G.R.A.M. was founded in 1987 by Günther Holler-Schuster, Ronald Walter, Armin Ranner und Martin Behr. They have been working in various fields, such as photography, film, video, performance, painting etc.

Viele sagen, die Aufgabe von Kunst sei das Abbilden von Realität. Hat dann die Moderne die Kunst ermordet, wenn sie Realität nicht abbildet, sondern ausstellt?

Mit «SPUK» legt der junge Zürcher Künstler Niklaus Rüegg einen Comicband der besonderen Art vor. Die vier Bildergeschichten, die er für diese Publikation geschaffen hat erinnern unübersehbar an die bekannten Donald Duck- und Mickey Mouse-Comics. Inhaltlich jedoch sprengt «SPUK» jede Konvention.

Die Gemälde der schottischen Künstlerin Lucy McKenzie machen deutlich, wie heutige Malerei, die über die rein ästhetische Erfahrung hinausgeht, begriffen werden kann. In dem von ihr selbst konzipierten und gestalteten Buch stellt sie in Text und Bild ihre Arbeiten der letzten drei Jahre vor.

Um die Auswirkung der langen Belichtungszeit bei Porträtaufnahmen zu kompensieren, wurden in den Anfängen der Fotografie die Porträtierten mittels Kopfklammern (headrest), speziellen Stühlen und anderem Gestänge «ruhig» gestellt. Mit ihrer Arbeit reflektieren die Autoren diese fotohistorische Kuriosität.

Great Bear Pamphlet

Each pamphlet is simply produced with black printing on colored sheets of paper (each pamphlet a different color) except for Cage’s poem DIARY: How to Improve the World (You Will Only Make Matters Worse) Continued Part Three (1967) which uses multicolored, and shifting type-faces to help realize his idea. The overall affect is a beautiful stack of reading.

Looiersgracht 60 is delighted to present Imprinted Mater, the first major institutional exhibition of work by Dutch-Argentine artist Aimée Zito Lema. Der Titel dieses Buches verweist auf den berühmten Titel von Walter Benjamin Das Kunstwerk im Zeitalter seiner technischen Reproduzierbarkeit, nach dessen Sinn die Gedankengänge von Reproduzieren und Überwachen mit unserem heutigen technischen Fortschritt im Zusammenhang gebracht werden, ausgehend von der Architektur in den Romanen Franz Kafkas, die in ihrer Interpretierbarkeit weit über unsere Zeit hinausweisen.

Durch die Begegnung mit dem französischen Strukturalismus und insbesondere mit der strukturalen Linguistik hat die Psychoanalyse nach 1945 neue und wesentliche Impulse erhalten. Diese Neuorientierung, die gleichzeitig eine Rückbesinnung auf Freud und eine Re-Vision seiner Texte darstellt, ist mit dem Psychoanalytiker Jacques Lacan und seiner Schule eng verbunden.
